Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! That question there pretty much sums up my past two days. My schedule gets completely thrown for a loop when things like the truck breaks down, or it gets stuck at a weigh station. Grr. Grrr, Grrr, Grrr. Ok, enough complaining.
I worked an extremely long day yesterday, but it ended with a nice, cheap dinner that was sooo delicious! I got out of a meeting in Newton around 8:00pm (I got up at 6:00 to meet the truck) so I drove right down route 9 and stopped into my friend Anthony's restaurant. I pulled up a seat at the bar and ended up making friends with another person in the wine business. He was friends with the owner of the resataurant so the three of us chatted, while watching the horrible Red Sox game that was on the tube. At least in that misery food kept coming....
Ok, so I wasn't expecting this at all. I figured I'd have an appetizer (tuna tartare) and have a glass of wine until Anthony could come and have a drink too. Then I'd call it a night...errr, wrong!
I started with an Island Creek Oyster. Just one. I forgot to ask what he put on it, but it was delicious. Considering I'm not a huge fan of oysters, I really enjoyed this one. Then I had one seared scallop come my way with asparagus and some braised oxtail. THAT was delicious! When the next plate came, the owner turned and looked at me and asked me to stop eating all the food in his restaurant! HAHA, it was funny, but he only stuck around! That plate was housemade gnocchi with roasted brussel sprouts in a lemon, thyme sauce. Oh my goodness. Did I tell you I found cellulite on my leg at the gym last week??? This sure ain't helping....
Then came the tuna tartare. Of course, he sent both kinds to me. I just love this stuff so I gladly ate it all. One had melon in it and the other had pistacchios. I preferred the pistacchio one, although like I said, I ate them both!
Then Anthony came to say hello...and tell me he had more coming my way. What??? Cellulite! Ah! Oooh, is that pork??? Ok! The next one he told me he almost forgot to send but he wanted me to try it because he's putting it on his menu. I loved it! It was crispy pork jowl (pig cheek), with some frisee and a fried farm-fresh egg. There had to be a little truffle oil on that baby too! Then he sent me butterscotch pudding, and a little piece of cake. Honestly I took a couple bites to be nice, but I just couldn't eat all that. Good thing, because then I had cashew bread pudding in front of me! HAHA Ok, so I had some of that because it was really hard to resist! Then I walked into the kitchen to say thanks to the guys (I know a couple others in there) and Anthony and Jeff came and had a drink in the bar. Adam came over from Marco to join us and then we left relatively early. Let's just say I slept really well last night!
AND it's fair to assume I'll be eating fruits and veggies today and hopefully working out...ummm....8 or 9 times! Just kidding! I have to run to Chelmsford today with a delivery of water for a new customer. And then I have a meeting downtown. And then I have to get to volleyball. I have a lot to do so I shouldn't be writing so much.
I will leave you with yet another Techie update from me. I heard about another new site...twitter. I am now a twitter-er. I will admit, that I love my job but it does get lonely. And I'm such a people-watcher, always curious about what I see...well, now I can share. So you can also check out http://twitter.com/karenk8880 for constant updates about what I'm doing. Inquiring minds want to know, right?? I can update from my computer or send them via text message. Most people ask what it's like in a day in the life of Karen...so, here you go! Check it out...maybe you'll start your own twitterpage....
Until next time, Chow!!!!
