Miss me??

I know, it's been a really long time now! Just as I really wanted to write a lot more often...well, I guess it didn't really work. Speaking of work...it's been crazy! Last week was pretty rough with all that went on in the warehouse, but I was pretty happy with the way our company came through. Although I had to deliver veal, beef, and seafood out of my trunk Saturday morning, it all worked out in the end.

I've been spending a lot more time out and about, visiting with my chefs, and harassing chefs that aren't mine yet! It's resulting in a lot of work for me, but I really think it's worth it and hopefully I'll be on top of the restaurant world soon enough. Ok, I know, one day at a time...but it's still exciting and the chefs are getting used to my weekly visits.

I've got to say they love hearing about my golf league. They think it's pretty amusing that I play. They would laugh even harder if they actually saw me play!! I've played 3 weeks now and the first week was really frustrating. I was so bad it was just awful. It's a good thing everyone I play with has a good sense of humor and they are all willing to help me get better. Last week, still wasn't great, but it was a little better. And last night was my best night yet. I'm not really good at driving, but my chipping and putting is definitely improving. As long as I improve each week, I'm happy.

It was really funny 2 weeks ago when Tim and I were at the bar after golf and his Stella Artois was next to my Bud Light...and neither one of us could tell who's beer was who's??? So last week, we were on the same team, Team Stellaweiser!!! We even had some Uni's made. We had a great time, but because Tim is such a good player, his handicap hurt us. We lost, and had beer duty this week. But this week, I played with Paulo (no team name) and we actually won! So we ate and drank for free after!

Oh, and I almost forgot...I have some really good news!!! The short rib chef took a big step last weekend and ordered short ribs from me again...for the first time since the incident. And they actually made it to him!!! The right short ribs even! I was pretty excited about that! I've actually been selling a lot of meat these days and I'm hoping to get more chefs on board with what we have. It's taken a long time to learn what we have, but I'm getting there.

Well, I've got to run now. I have a big event tomorrow I'm going to called Chefs in Shorts. It's at the Seaport World Trade Center and it's basically about 30-something chefs grilling up some good food outdoors with...you guessed it, beer and wine! I'm going with two other chefs and it should be a great time. Then, Saturday I leave for New York City. I finally get to go to the Fancy Food Show! This show is better than the Restaurant Show I usually go to...it's usually featured on the FoodNetwork too. Who knows, maybe you'll see me on tv??? :-) And I get to hang out with Lisa again. We haven't hung out in a while and we're hoping to have dinner at a restaurant I've been dying to go to for months now. We'll see if we can get in?

That's it for now...I should have lots of food to write about on my way back from NYC...stay posted.

Chow!

KK
