Location, Location, Location!

Well it's official! I signed my new lease this week so I will be moving to a really cute street in Brookline, MA. It's been about 6 years since I've had my own place and I'm so excited! There's lots to plan to make sure I have everything I need, but I'm just so excited to be on my own! Yes, there is a nice big kitchen (in the downstairs)...and a nice living room with a non-working fireplace. But it's oh-so-cute, and can't wait to make it my own!

My trip to New York was great...it was very busy and set me back a bit as I don't think I opened a computer for 3 days! That's a long time in this day and age! There were over 2,000 booths of food at the show. I have never seen anything like it. The Restaurant Show I usually go to doesn't even compare to this...The Fancy Food Show! Europeans running around everywhere...and I love it! The first day at the show I actually had to work at our booth. As usual it was one of the biggest booths in the whole place...right smack in the middle of the Italian section. We had lots to show and I was in charge of beverages. I didn't stop the whole day. I got a break around noon to walk around and grab food, but I actually went to visit "Lisa" at her booth and sit down. It was great to see her and perfect that they had a table and chairs at her booth...in the middle of France. So we sat down, ate some pate, drank some champagne and caught up with each other. Then it was back to work.

That night I was on "the list" to get into an afterparty for a competitor of mine. Doesn't that sound cool??? :-) So I hung out with my friends from Connecticut and we ate, drank, and ended up learning how to salsa and samba. Then I spent the next two days walking around the show and trying different products. I tried not to overdo it...I mean you've never seen more cheese, meat, and chocolate at once. It's hard to resist! But Cat came in to stay with me for a night so we hung out with a bunch of important chocolate people at night and went out to dinner at Bar Boulud! It wasn't WD-50, but Bar Boulud is equally as popular...and probably equally as expensive! We started with a $46 charcuterie plate as an appetizer with our bottle of wine! It was very tasty but I have no idea what organs I was eating all mushed together??? Then I had the steak frites and Cat had a salad.

Since then I've been playing catch up and trying to follow up with all the Boston people I met there. It was a great experience.

Oh and I've also been working on my golf game...and I'm definitely improving!!! Last night we didn't win, but me and my partner used at least 60% of my shots. There's 8 of us that play and we do a 2-man scramble. I have no idea what that means compared to playing "best ball", but we basically just use who ever had a better shot. I do need to work on my terminology...."Bring my 7, the fat one" isn't gonna cut it on the LPGA....

So that's the most recent update...I'm off to see my friend Julie's NEW house tonight...after my beef tasting in the South End. I can't wait to see it and catch up with her and her hubby.

Hope everyone had a good 4th! Here's a pic from this past weekend. A little CSC reunion for MaryAnn's bachelorette party....

Chow,

Karen
