Before the trip!
Kalimera! It seems like forever ago we planned our trip and thought it would never get here. Well shoot, we leave tomorrow! I am so excited - but I have to admit that it kind of hasn't hit me where I'm going to be for the next two weeks. I mean, Ellas was one of those places I have always wanted to go to first, but never thought I'd get there. How would I find my way around? How would I ever speak Greek? But, it's here, I'm really going, and I can even speak some of the language. I accidentally called the MF stupid this morning when trying to say that something was stupid. Whoops! That's what I'm afraid of doing there, but I probably won't learn unless I make mistakes.
In case you're wondering...we're going to the Island of Lesvos. It's pretty much right near Turkey (Istanbul was Constantinople now it's Istanbul not Constantinople...do do-do do do). A much larger island than I thought it was, but we're still planning on exploring the entire island. The MF's cousin George came over the other night so we could bring some stuff to his nephews and just talking about the island and the village got me so excited. I know, I'm going to stick out to the locals like a sore thumb. I seriously can't wait! If you want a glimpse of where we'll be you can click here --> Lesvos
Oh yeah, and if you want to see where I'm spending my Birthday - did I mention my Birthday is coming up??? :-) Well, you can check that out at these links:
Athens
and
Our Hotel
The Manfriend mentioned something about a Torta - and maybe someone on the street will make me one. I'm kind of confused from his description, so I'm hoping I'll get a Birthday Torta just to see what it is. And obviously, eat it!
I'm not sure I'll be able to blog there, but I'll try to update pictures as much as possible without feeling like we're constantly online. We have 3 memory cards ready to go for pictures. Plus our underwater camera! We bought snorkels here too to save some money on them. I tried mine on and it's good to go! So if you don't hear from me for a while, I'll be sure to come back with pictures and stories to share.
But before I go I gotta wish Happy Birthday to my fellow August Birthday Buddies!
Aunt Betty, Mom, Uncle Rod, and Dad! Hope it's the Bestest Birthday Yet!
I gotta go finish getting everything organized now. Our Greek Chariot is picking us up at 8:00 tomorrow morning - then it's off to Boston, JFK, and 9 hours to Athens! Yay!!!!!!
Until then - as us Greeks say, Adios! (Ah - dee - ohs)
And Chow!
