FoodNetwork HD

I honestly can't say how happy I am to have the FoodNetwork in HD! Just when you think the food on it looks good, and how great the chefs on tv are....it does get better! Which results in being hungrier! All the up-close shots of the food as they're chopping, searing, baking, grilling, and so on....oh, it just looks that much better! You know, kind of like watching a regular football game, and then seeing Tom Brady up close in HD! hehe

It's been a while since I've added so I thought I'd update on what I've been eating lately. There's a few things I feel I can't live without and I was trying to think about what I used to eat before I became addicted to these snacks. Cashews. Call me nuts, but I just can't get enough and have some at least everyday. I've had to decrease my peanut butter consumption because I eat so many cashews. It's just an easy snack to have while out and about.

Another one is Greek yogurt with pineapples and cranberries mixed in. I have been getting some good grapes lately, and I'll use those instead of the cranberries, but either way I'm a happy snacker! Try it!

I've also been eating a lot of sushi. It's so good and quick to get at night after I leave the gym. My favorite is the spicy tuna roll, although last week I had a veggie roll which was really good too! I'm not a fan of sashimi unless it's salmon, but for the most part I stick to the rolls.

And while it's been cold out I've been getting soup in a box from Trader Joe's. I love the roasted corn soup...with just a few crackers, it's great! Sadly, you can see I'm not doing as much cooking as before, but this stuff is all good! Speaking of corn...my sister made us a dinner the other night that she was concerned about and she really shouldn't have been. It was like a Mexican lasagna...with, yes, corn on the side! Although Paige said it "spiced her neck", it was good. Kristin has a gift certificate to one of the restaurants I service and she was wondering if there would be anything she could eat there. I checked out the menu today and thought I'd share....
Instead of showing the appetizers let's just stick to the entrees along with my thoughts for my sister while checking it out....

Roasted Scottish Salmon
~ parsley root, grapefruit, black olives, bok choy / 35
Karen's thought...Salmon, skip.

Day Boat Scallops
~ warm clam salad, La Ratte fingerlings, chervil broth / 37
Karen's thought...Scallops, skip.

Wild Striped Bass
~ salsify, maitake mushrooms, truffle jus / 36
Karen's thought...Striped Bass, uh oh this isn't looking too good...hope she brings Mark

Roasted Poussin
~ spaghetti squash, Burgundian escargots, Brussels sprouts, lardons / 32
Karen's thought...at first, yes, tastes like chicken....oh crap, escargot, skip.

Duet of Pekin Duck
~farro, black trumpets, cipollini, oyster jus / 37
Karen's thought...Oh she might try duck...tastes like chicken...oh shoot, oyster jus, skip.

Berkshire Pork Loin
~ caramelized apples, potato puree, housemade boudin noir / 36
Karen's thought...finally some meat! She can pick out the apples...

Cocoa Crusted Venison Loin
~ chestnut puree, local apples, turnips / 37
Karen's thought...Venison with chocolate...bet she'll pick this entree...and pick out the apples!

Prime Sirloin
~ potato galette, short rib, Swiss chard, bone marrow / 38
Karen's thought...She'll ask for this minus the bone marrow, and end up getting the cocoa crusted venison!

Ok, at least there's a few things for you to try Kristin. I would recommend my favorite appetizer here because it's delicious, but I'm not sure you'd go for the prune stuffed gnocchi with foie gras!

The seafood show is coming up this weekend. Probably won't be as much fun as the Toby Keith show I saw this past weekend but that's okay. Oh, I'll probably smell pretty bad when I leave too....hmmmmmm........
