I'm not sure what is in the water I've been drinking lately, but this past week has had some random moments. I'll start with Thursday when I was driving around to different accounts. I seriously need my GPS device to get around to places I'm not totally comfortable with yet, or to just get me to a familiar place where I do know how to get around. So on the way home, I was back in an area I knew, but left the GPS on...all of a sudden I heard Holly (that's her name) say, "Bear right onto Storrow Doctor West." Then she said it again...and again one more time! I mean, I spent a good amount of money on this GPS thingy and she doesn't know that "dr." means Drive????? No one was in the car to witness that one with me.....
Friday morning I got up to go for a walk and as I was getting near Cleveland Circle there were four wild turkeys in the road! I thought I was just tired and figured that since I didn't have any coffee yet, I was probably just seeing things...I was wrong. So I hopped a little stone wall, and took a detour around those jive turkeys.
This morning (Saturday) I had to do some work for a few hours and bring some people shrimp, croissant dough, and milk powder. On the way through town what do I see? Another stinkin' turkey! Just for the record, I am not ready to skip Spring and Summer for Thanksgiving....but I did have a new craving for stuffing and cranberry sauce....
And then in the cab on the way to the train station, Storrow Doctor East was all backed up. Thought I was going to be late actually. Until I realized what was going on. There was a huge bus on the road and a cop was helping it back up through traffic! Seriously...it was causing so much traffic, but I'm assuming it wouldn't have fit under the upcoming bridges, so it could only go backwards. Weird.
So last night I went to dinner in Faneuil Hall and it was great. I met some people from volleyball there and we were treated right away to some fried calamari rings and tuna tartare. Both of those were delicious! They also brought over some oysters for us. I still don't get the hype behind oysters...I mean, you don't really taste anything since they just slide right down. Fry 'em up and I get it! :-) Then I had the tuna plate for dinner which was yellowfin three ways. There was some more tartare, some seared tuna on sticky rice, and a nori tuna roll! Nori is seaweed paper, and it had the tuna rolled up in it, which they then dipped in tempura batter and fried...scrumptious! And after all that, they sent us a dessert platter! This thing was huge! There was a piece of Boston Creme Pie, some custard tart, blueberry sorbet, and this delectable hunk of toffee heaven! That was my favorite by far! The three of us didn't come close to finishing that, but it was huge, and we had quite a bit to eat before then.
So that's the update for now. I'm on the train to New York as I type...luckily the man that was snoring got off somewhere in Connecticut. I forgot my mp3 player and was so upset! I just can't live without my music...ummm especially for 4 days! Of course I packed the charger for it, but can't charge it if i don't have it! Grrrr....Oh well, I'm sure I'll make do!
Chow,
KK :-)
